Screen Literacy
Reading film language deliberately: framing, mise-en-scène, editing rhythm and sound as arguments rather than decoration.
About
Before teaching, I built a career in media and writing. I studied Digital Film Production at the University of Greenwich, wrote film features for Collider, and worked as an Assistant Producer, Floor Manager and Camera Operator in live television.
Today I'm a Learning Support Assistant at Narrabundah College, where I was named ACT State Finalist for Australian Teacher Aide of the Year 2024, while completing my Master of Teaching.
Alongside my work in screen media, I hold a Master's in Creative Writing & Publishing. I was longlisted for The Ritchell Prize in 2023, and in 2025 I received an arts grant from Arts ACT to finish my novel-in-the-making, Birds of Paradise. My writing practice shapes how I teach narrative, voice and craft in the Media classroom.
What I'm most passionate about in Media is storytelling. Whether we're analysing narrative devices in a graphic novel or storyboarding a short film, the goal is the same: think critically, create confidently, and use your own voice to tell your truth.

Teaching Philosophy
Reading film language deliberately: framing, mise-en-scène, editing rhythm and sound as arguments rather than decoration.
From graphic novels to features, unpacking narrative devices, point of view and structure with a shared critical vocabulary.
Storyboard to final cut. Students plan, shoot and edit short films with industry workflow and realistic constraints.
Every unit ends with students using the craft to say something of their own, confidently and with evidence.
